Unique in Nature - Selective Oxidation
Creating the
oxidation required to kill bacteria, viruses, mold and mildew can involve
strong chemicals like chlorine bleach that may trigger health problems and may
be linked to cancer. The disinfectant used by BioShield contains a special form
of chlorine dioxide combined with other agents to selectively oxidize harmful
organisms. The unique composition is an ecologically sound alternative that is
colorless, low odor and will not harm hard or soft surfaces, colorfast fabrics,
or skin.
The Environmentally Sound Alternative to
Chlorine Bleach
Although
chlorine dioxide (ClO2) has chlorine in its name, its chemistry is radically
different from that of chlorine itself. Technically speaking, both chlorine and
ClO2 are oxidizing agents. Yet these fundamentally different chemistries react
in distinct ways with organic compounds, resulting in a very different
by-product.
While chlorine
produces harmful by-products (THM) trihalomethanes and (HAAS) haloacetic acids,
which are linked to cancer, chlorine dioxide does not. ClO2 is not a metabolic
toxin and will not aid in developing antibiotic resistant bacteria.
The History
Chlorine dioxide
has been recognized for its powerful disinfecting properties since the early
1900s. It is used by municipalities to purify drinking water. Environmentalists
now recommend its use in eco-friendly paper production.
The Breakthrough
BioShield
Services uses a unique and super effective, ecologically sound cleaner &
odor eliminator, with proven broad-spectrum anti-microbial action. It does not
mask odors such as tobacco smoke & pet urine, but eliminates them on a
molecular level. In addition, it is also certified by the NSF as a 60 second
Food Contact Sanitizer with no rinse required. Non-irritating to skin and
non-corrosive to treated articles, BioShield Services only the most effective
EPA registered hospital grade disinfectant cleaner.
